Arwa Salhab, From Newark, DE, Spent Fall Break Volunteering

2016 Nov 8

Stevenson University student Arwa Salhab, participated in the first Fall Serve trip serving with a variety of non profit partners in the greater Baltimore area.

The students participated in many activities, from sorting books for youth, cutting grass, serving meals, and cleaning up community parks, as part of their weekend in Baltimore. This alternative fall break trip had a large impact on Stevenson's surrounding community and was a great experience for students to be involved in the lives of others. One student shared, Thank you for this opportunity to serve the community and learn about Baltimore! My eyes have been opened!" Another student summarized the trip by saying, "This was an awesome trip to go on. Not only did it allow me to serve the local community, but it gave me a chance to get to know some great people and see Baltimore. I will absolutely be working with these community partners again soon!"

The organizations in which they partnered with were: 6th Branch, Maryland Book Bank, St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, Paul's Place, Second Chance, and SAFE Alternatives.

This trip was the most recent addition to the Mission: I'm Home Alternative Break Program. To learn more, please visit www.face.com/SUMissionImHome
