Doylestown Resident Michael Fehrs and Men's Volleyball Team Earn Their First-Ever Conference Title

2016 May 6

Stevenson University men's volleyball player Michael Fehrs helped the Mustangs win their first Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) title. This was the team's third year in a row competing in the championship, beating Rutgers-Newark with a score of 35-21. With their conference win, the team earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship.

In addition to becoming conference champions, many of the players earned honors for their outstanding performances during the championship tournament. Senior Rob Wingert was named MVP of the tournament, while senior teammates Kyle Pottieger, Patrick Schuyler, and junior Nate Ellis, were named to the All-Tournament Team.

There were also several players recognized for their achievements during the entirety of the season. Wingert was named Player of The Year by the CVC, while also being named to AVCA Second Team honors. Wingert led the conference in assists, with a season total of 1,112, placing at fourth in the nation. He also hold fourth place in the league with 181 digs, and fifth place with 67 block assists.

Nate Ellis was also recognized by the AVCA as an honorable mention.

Freshman Landon Shorts has been named both ECAC Division III and CVC Rookie of the Year. He was also the only freshman named to the CVC All-Conference Team, as well as earning player of the week twice during the season. Shorts holds second place in the conference with 324 kills, and second place in service aces with 50, which breaks a program single-season record. He recorded a total of at least ten kills in a game 18 times during the season.

Congratulations Michael
