2013 May 1

The creative work of Fashion Design major, Janic'e Sethman of Columbia, MD (Bethel High School) was featured at Stevenson University, School of Design, Fashion Design program's, 2nd Annual Student Fashion Show. The show entitled, "Raw Concept," was held on Saturday, April 27, at the Inscape Theater on the Greenspring Campus to a sold-out venue of 340 guests.

Student, Ms. Amber Lloyd served as the moderator for the event. Students, Ms. Ruth Edwards and Ms. Sherie Jones produced the show. The students also collaborated with their peers from the Fashion Merchandising program, the Film and Video department, and the Business Communications department's Public Relations Club. Gracing the runway, our guests viewed a superb collection of garments of original design for children, men, and women. The students created each piece first by sketching the idea in a digital format, developing a pattern using a combination of manual and computer aided techniques, and finally constructed by using hand and machine methods.

The Fashion Design degree curriculum at Stevenson University synthesizes the individual esthetic of the designer with an understanding of the market, historical context of fashion and costume, consumer psychology, materials and techniques of apparel construction, and the relationship to the human form.
