Kalice Marcus of Baltimore, MD Helped Collect over 2,000 lbs of Trash During Stream Cleanup

Kalice Marcus participated in the Stream Cleanup event which resulted in the collection of over 2,000 pounds of trash. Stevenson's Center for Environmental Sustainability organized the cleanup through the organization Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and was represented by the Environmental Club. Students and staff members registered for the event with Project Clean Stream, who work in alliance with Blue Water Baltimore, and supplied the participants with materials for the cleanup. The Environmental Club students, alongside Project Clean Stream and Blue Water Baltimore successfully collected 2124.7 pounds of garbage from the water.

The team of students and staff collected an abundance of different materials, including:

330 plastics, 37 glass, 128 metal, 52 styrofoam, 28 paper/cardboard, 12 electronics, 47 clothing/textiles, 3 oil/chemicals, 1 medical, 35 other (includes large items like the door frame, sink, tires, hubcaps, etc.), and 80 cigarette butts. That is 753 trash items total.
