Robert Wingert of Hanover Township, PA is Named Chair of Division III SAAC

December 8, 2015: Stevenson University men's volleyball senior Robert Wingert has been selected as chair of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). His term will begin January of 2016, following the NCAA Convention, and will remain chair through the 2017 Convention. Wingert's duties as chair include leading the annual in-person meetings the committee holds, and serving as the public voice for the SAAC. Wingert will take on the responsibility of spokesperson for 180,000 Division III student-athletes.

Wingert, who has served on the SAAC since January 2015, says "The most exciting part for me about being elected chair is that it was voted on by my peers on the Division III SAAC. I work with a group of great student-athletes who are all leaders on their campuses, and for them to see me as a great fit as chair of the committee is an honor."

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general. The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division's nationwide partnership with Special Olympics. The committee meets in-person four times each year in January, April, July and November. It also conducts teleconferences as needed.
