Stevenson University Men's Basketball Player Christopher Day from Glen Burnie, MD Plays an Intense Game Against Alvernia in the MAC Commonwealth Conference Championship.

2015 Mar 25

Christopher is one of the Stevenson University basketball team members who completed an outstanding season at the MAC Commonwealth Conference Championship game. Although the team was unfortunately defeated during the rematch against Alvernia, the Mustangs put on yet another intense championship performance for the second year in a row.

The Mustangs won the opening tip, leading to a strong start and a lead of 7-2 less than three minutes into the game, thanks to plays by Christian Roberts, Chris Day. The team lead by 13 with a score of 22-9 leading up to the break. Both teams achieved multiple scoring plays changing the score to 33-17 at the half, with Stevenson remaining in the lead. The Mustangs had an impressive shooting percentage of 55.6% during the first half.

With the second half starting off slow, Alvernia stepped up their game resulting in a lead of only seven with less than 14 minutes left to play. An impressive dunk by Sean Farr, followed by another play by Colby Giacubeno, lead the team to yet another double point lead of 43-32. With less than four minutes left in the game, Alvernia gained a lead of two after several power plays. As the Mustang's approached defeat, Gaicubeno lowered Alvernia's lead to four with 25 seconds left on the clock. Alvernia claimed victory over Stevenson for the second year in a row during the MAC Championship game with an end score of 55-51. Although the team did not win the championship, there is a possibility they could be chosen during the at-large bid to play in the NCAA Championships or the ECAC Championships.

Congratulations on a great season!
