Stevenson University Public History major, Andrea Marquez, is one of the six students who have been elected as an Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) Board Member. As a newer group, less than five years old, OLAS strives to provide support for all Latin American Students on campus, while embracing and celebrating the different aspects Latin culture.The mission of OLAS is to educate the students of Stevenson University through social and education programs. Not only do they plan to educate fellow students, but also would like to reach out to the greater Latin American community in the Baltimore area.

OLAS experienced little involvement within the community during previous semesters, lacking the proper funds and leadership to plan events. With a brand new executive board and a fresh start, OLAS is making fundraising a priority in order to increase Hispanic/Latino/a involvement across Stevenson and the Baltimore area. The group will tackle their first event at Patterson High School, where they will speak with students and parents during the high school's Community Fair. At this event, OLAS will also get the opportunity to network with other groups similar to themselves, from surrounding colleges and universities.
