Stevenson University Student Yasmine Byrd, From Baltimore, MD, Attends National Human Services Conference

Yasmine Byrd is one of the two Stevenson University human services majors to attend the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) National Conference.

The theme of this year's conference was "The New Realities in America: Preparing for the challenges ahead," and was held in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Yasmin Byrd and Linnea Bleacher earned the opportunity to attend the conference after being awarded the Professional Development Award through the Human Services Department at Stevenson. They traveled to the conference with two professors where they had the chance to present a poster about Stevenson's Human Services program, detailing how it prepares students for new realities.

Bleacher says "the opportunity to attend workshops and hear how Human Services professionals are improving social issues was extremely influential. It was great to hear other's perspectives about our world and how it can be improved."
