Stevenson University team member Matthew Burns making school history

Congratulations to Matthew Burns of Grand Haven, MI (Grand Haven Senior High School) a member of Stevenson University's 2013 Men's Lacrosse Team.

The Stevenson men's lacrosse team advanced to its first-ever national championship game after the No. 4 Mustangs defeated rival Salisbury University Sunday night at Mustang Stadium 12-6 in front of a record 2,311 fans.

Stevenson (21-2), who was winless in three previous national semifinal appearances, including 0-2 against the Sea Gulls, improved its record to 15-1 at home this season while extending its winning streak to 10. It is the Mustangs' longest win streak since they started 10-0 in 2010.

The Mustangs will face a rematch with Rochester Institute of Technology in the national championship game Sunday, May 26 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Stevenson defeated the Tigers 12-11 in overtime back on February 27 at Mustang Stadium.
