William Lewis of Centreville, MD, is Named to Fall MAC All-Academic Team

2016 Feb 9

January 22, 2016: Stevenson University student-athlete William Lewis is named to a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) All-Academic Team. The three students named to this honor are senior football player Billy Lewis, senior women's soccer player Allie Ondrejcak, and sophomore volleyball player Annika Schwartz.

There are seven All-MAC teams in which students can be named to. The top athletes are recognized in women's and men's cross country, men's and women's soccer, football, field hockey, and volleyball. Each student is nominated by the MAC sports information directors, highlighting both academic and athletic success. Middle Atlantic Conference Executive Director Ken Andrews Says "This is one of the top conference awards we give out each season. It honors our student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the playing field," and "These recipients represent the true meaning of a student-athlete."

Lewis has been honored as a MAC First Team All-Conference selection as a defensive back, after earning a 3.40 GPA during the fall semester. The Mustangs led the nation in interceptions with 29, while Lewis tied for team lead in interceptions with a season total of six. He totaled 39 tackles and made a game-winning interception during the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series, leading Stevenson to a 14-9 win over Muhlenberg.

Ondrejcak is a two-time NSCAA Scholar All-Region selection, and was honored as a NSCAA Third Team All-Region selection after earning a 3.89 GPA during the fall semester. During the 2015 season, she was also named First Team ECAC All-Star, and earned MAC Commonwealth First Team All-Conference honors for the third time in her collegiate career. Ondrejcak finished the season with three goals, and holds the team record in assists with a total of seven.

Schwartz has been honored as an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-Region selection. Following the 2015 season she was also named a MAC Commonwealth First Team Selection after achieving a 3.36 GPA during the fall semester. Schwartz led the Mustangs in kills with 423, a .224 hitting, 36 blocks and 59 service aids. The Mustangs made their fourth straight MAC Commonwealth championship appearance, as well as their fifth straight NCAA appearance.

Congratulations William!
